Honking Saint: A Poem for All Saints
The
boy honked fully
At
the geese flying by
Backpack
clutched
Head
arched back
A
shouting saint
Stopped
on his way to school
Between
cars in the lot
To
preach to the birds
In
their own
Halting
raucous blurts
After
hearing their homily
“O
flying, honking life!”
Yes!
Amen! Honk! Honk!
“O
flying, honking life!”
